HPL

Do you want to equip your existing installation with a protection system? That is a very wise decision, but usually this means a lot of “hot work”.

Standard technique: expensive and dangerous

Holes have to be burned or ground in the wall, flanges have to be welded, probably reinforcement ribs have to be welded etc. That is why not only the entire installation has to be cleaned thoroughly before and after the installation, but it also means that special measures have to be taken for the rest of the installation. After all such works often have to be executed in a zoned environment, this means: an environment where there is a risk of gas or dust explosions and where ignition sources caused by hot work are certainly not acceptable. Consequence: high costs as a result of cleaning and long-term standstill.

HPL technique: safe and flexible

That is why StuvEx has developed the HPL technique. Applying this technique the necessary openings in the installation are made in such a way that a temperature limit of 80°C is never exceeded. For the installation of equipment, such as detectors and extinguishing agent bottles, special flanges have been developed that subsequently can be placed on the holes made. The procedure as well as the solution have been presented to, and approved by the H&SE (Health & Safety Executive) in the UK.

HPL technique: also faster in other applications

Originally the system has been developed for application in a zoned environment (zone 22). At this moment it is however used nearly on a daily basis in not-zoned applications as the standstill time, thanks to this system, is limited to a strict minimum. This creates an enormous flexibility, even if the installation is only a few hours at our disposal, works can already be done so that the execution of the complete installation can be spread over several days.
