For pressure venting

When a traditional venting device, e.g. a bursting disc, cannot be used, DQS offers a very economical alternative.

The DQS valve offers many advantages, since it combines several protection aspects:

• The valve provides a highly efficient discharge opening.
• It is equipped with a flame extinguishing device in the form of a pack of plates.
• The valve is self-closing via spring pressure. This prevents fresh air from entering the device after triggering, which could lead to a secondary explosion.

The explosion pressure can be vented safely, even in an environment where personnel could be present near the vent opening or in an environment where equipment is located nearby.

The DQS valve is an ATEX 'safety system' for venting. Its efficient operation as a safety system is a function of a correct venting surface and correct positioning and mounting on the process equipment.

For explosion shock resistant equipment

Explosion suppression (such as the Flash explosion suppression system) stops the explosion in an early stage, which means that the pressure increase is reduced. Some existing (and new) equipment could still get damaged by the shock of this reduced pressure. Therefore this equipment needs to be reinforced. This complicated work can sometimes be avoided if the explosion suppression is combined with supplementary venting via a DQS valve.

When the valve opens in the case of an explosion, the pressure is quickly vented. The pack of plates cools the flame jet and the hot gases.

Maintenance-free explosion venting system

The DQS valve is a compact construction that is virtually maintenance free. After an explosion, in most cases it is sufficient to visually inspect the valve. Afterwards, the process can be resumed rather quickly.

This is an ATEX- certified 'safety system'.

Consequently, each application must be based on the instructions contained in the ATEX certificate, the product specifications and the user manual. The system is suitable for use in an Ex zone 22.
