Activation

Search

For many companies, it is difficult to determine which is a safe level of detection. That is especially the case with pressure detection. Do pressure peaks occur? Which size? What is their rate of pressure increase? Are there any critical turbulence? Most companies have no idea, and their recording systems are often not able to pick up this kind of information.

Still, these fluctuations can unwantedly trigger the explosion pressure detector.

Unaffordable or unsafe?

Does this sound familiar? Then there are three options:

  • Opt for a low detection level – just to be sure. In which case you will pay more than is necessary.
  • Opt for a very high detection level – to reduce the number of unnecessary activations. Which means that one day, a real explosion might not be noticed in time.
  • Trust the StuvEx OKM system. And rest assured.

Affordable and safe

OKM  is a measuring and registration system which has been specially designed for this kind of situation. It is able to measure pressure and optical signals in different locations and over very long periods of time (months if necessary). Possible disturbances are filtered out, so that clear data are obtained about the pressure in the process. An analysis of these data accurately tells us if and when certain settings have been exceeded. On the basis of these conclusions, we can determine the right detection level.

Turn your people into experts

Also after the activation of your security system, the right follow-up actions have to be taken. Various locks and interlocks make sure that  the installation is stopped and the power supply is interrupted. But apart from this, it must be clear for the operators which procedures they have to follow afterwards. Their most frequently asked questions are:

  • Who should we warn?
  • Can the installation be opened immediately afterwards for inspection, or do we have to wait a certain period?
  • What should be do with the (contaminated) product?
  • Can we start immediately with the cleaning and removal, or do certain observations have to be made first to find out the cause of the activation?
  • Is there a sufficient amount of spare parts present in the plant or do they have to come from elsewhere?

After a StuvEx training, the operators will know exactly what to do after an activation, and your company will be operational again in no time.
